Java failure on password authentication for password protected page

We keep our wholesale line sheets behind password protection on the site. I am noticing that the java script for the "submit" button /auth/unlock page where the password is entered is not working consistently. I use several browsers on the desktop for testing and without fail, it fails often, despite repeated pressing. Sometimes when it works, I get directed to the page I want, other times it is redirecting back to the home page and then allows you to go to the page you want.

I've reset the password, but no real joy.

Bonus, works great on mobile but not sure the clients want to browse on their phone...

Any advice?
