Is there a timeline to add Afterpay for Canadian retailers?

We're a business that could certainly benefit from a BNPL service like Afterpay. Will Square offer this functionality for Canadian retailers in 2022? We have a lot of customers asking for it.

Hi, can anyone from Square provide an update on this? Shopify offers Shop Pay instalments through Affirm, and integrations with other BNPL services. It would be very helpful if Square could offer something competitive in the Canadian market – the benefits of BNPL are well known, and it's hurting Canadian retailers that are on the Square/Weebly platform that there are no integrations to take advantage of this currently.

We hear you, @WixiesJewels, @Allie_POH, and are working on bringing Afterpay to more international markets! While we can't provide a timeline at the moment, we'll update this thread as soon as we have news to share.

Does Square have any updates available regarding Afterpay integration in the Canadian market? If not I will need to pursue other alternatives as I simply can’t wait any longer for this valuable tool for my clients. Please advise.

Is there any reason why I can’t enable Afterpay for in-person on my Square POS.

I was following the Square guide to enable it but when I got to they payment methods menu only the online channel was there. Is it just me or is that a feature that is still being finalized??

Currently, for Canadian Sellers, Afterpay is only available for online purchases through Square. We are working to expand Afterpay availability to other Square products in the near future and once we have more information to share on this, we'll be sure to update this thread.

In the meantime, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions about using Afterpay for online payments.
