May I ask how the information from the credit card would be entered into the terminal?

Why not just use Square Website to process the payment?

Also you could use a Square Payment API that is coded into a website to process payments.

The reason for the virtual terminal to take a credit card payment, is it is easier to type information on a keyboard as compared to typing on a digital device like a tablet or cell phone.

Thanks for your response. Am closing a retail store so no longer going to use in-store POS but will be charging for remote services using the Square reader and see that as a backup can enter transactions online if the reader is unavailable. Wanted to list products online through a website and was wondering (if and how) Square can process the payments online.

Yes you can enter credit card sales online throught the Virtual Terminal in a web browser.
