Adding service fee to checkout link orders

We're a non profit and are selling tickets to an event.

The event is only $4 a ticket, but we need to charge $0.50 service fees to pass on, per transaction.

Now I know there is the service charges feature but I can't get it to work.

I enabled Item Level taxes and added the service charge, but the option "Apply automatically to Square online orders" is grayed out.

I also can't find anywhere how I apply the service fee to that specific item.

Idea's?

Thanks for writing in with this question and welcome to our community 👋

Right now, service charges for the Online Checkout only apply to Collect a payment and Accept a donation links. If you've created the checkout link to Sell Classes or Tickets, you'd just need to create a new checkout link for your service charge to work. For reference, these are the four options for checkout links:
