Export online catalogue to edit weights of items.

I need to edit the weights on a huge collection of items from my online store catalogue.

I know I can export to excel from my retail side but this will not add the options of item weights and thus is not useful to me.

is there a way that I am missing at the moment that will allow me to export to excel and then edit the weights?

some of my items have weights others don't and having a big catalogue means that going in to each item description and checking would just be too time consuming.

If this is not an option yet please can we add this to the list of things to bring in.

I can't be the only one needing this 🙂

Hi @jmdaus!

I just tried this myself — exported to Excel our whole item library in the Square dashboard (not Square Online).

You're right, there is unfortunately no column for weight it seems!

What I figured out from this Support article was that you first need to setup your 'Units' in your Items Library first before your item export will give you the 'Unit and Precision' column in your spreadsheet:

From Square Support Article: You will not be able to create unit types via import. To create a unit type and set the precision, head to the Units tab of your online Square Dashboard.

So, in your Square account, go here: Square Dashboard (squareup.com) and check you have the units you need setup.

Then do another 'Export Library' to 'Excel'.

Once you're got your updated spreadsheet, you should now have the column (mine is col D) for 'Unit and Precision).

Before you start, I highly recommend you carefully read the support article to make sure you have the right decimal places and formatting before trying to re-import (don't want to mess your library up!)

This is the key info in the article relating to weight:

Unit and Precision

Unit type and precision (decimal places).

Let’s say you have unit Pound (lb) set to precision .0:

*Correct**: Pounds 1.0
Incorrect: lbs 1.0

Let’s say you have unit Fluid Ounce (fl oz) set to precision .0000:

*Correct**: Fluid Ounce 1.0000
Incorrect: fluid oz 1.

Make sure to enter the full unit type name and precision – do not use abbreviations.
