Hello @kait2 thanks for your post, and welcome to the Square Community...we're glad you're here!

It sometimes takes a bit of back-and-forth to get the shipping rates exactly the way you want. Unless you add weights for each item, and set your shipping by weight, it can be a bit of guessing. Personally I set up my shipping profiles by total cost of their order. See screenshot below. Sometimes it costs me a bit more or less depending on weight and size of box, but I found this way for me helps control some of the huge shipping estimates I used to get.

I sell mainly wholesale to retail stores, so I structure the shipping to increase at different levels of purchase, and to encourage the largest purchase I offer free shipping at a certain order level.

Here's some more info about shipping rates and setting up profiles.

https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8042-create-and-manage-shipping-rate-profiles

I hope this helps answer your question.

How navigate shipping for my online site?

Hello! I'm trying to navigate shipping for my online site. Right now I have a couple of custom shipping profiles set up, and assigned to different items. Lets say i have a mystery box that cost $12.00 to ship and then a 3 pack of soap that costs $9.99 to ship. Customer adds both things to cart and now the shipping cost $21.99 which is way more then I need it to be, since I could just put them in the same container. How do I go about setting up shipping that will avoid, these types of charges?
