Can you customize the 'Personal Information' Tab on Check Out

Can you customize the personal information tab on check out to force customers to leave a note? Or add a field to collect required data? I have customized the contact us form and that doesn't seem to be working. I have also added a custom field in the customer information tab, but that isn't showing up anywhere on my site. My site is hosted through Square and not a 3rd party.

You can turn on a note to seller field in your checkout settings, which will add a field to your checkout page where customers can type in anything they want.
