Can a customer fill out a form without paying?

I will be selling custom, hand painted press-on nails so I made a Jotform for customers to fill out and I embedded the code.

Since every set I make is different, it will all be priced differently and I can’t put a set price for them to order and pay for.
I would need to send some sort of invoice link or something after I’ve calculated the cost.

After a customer submits the form are they directed to the checkout page to pay? Can I choose for them not to pay until I send an invoice? How do I go about something like that?

@Sugarbee Welcome to the community. You can do that if you Square’s form builder. You can setup the form to collect any information you want.

I did a quick search and this is the information that was returned, hopefully this will solve your problem.

1. Can I choose for them not to pay until I send an invoice?

Yes, absolutely.

If you’re using a form to collect custom order details, and you want to review it and send an invoice manually, you can:

Option A:

Use a Custom Form (no payment)

Go to your Square Online editor.
Add a “Form” section.
Customize it to collect the info you need (name, email, product or service details, etc.).
On submission, customers are not charged—you’ll get the info by email or in your dashboard.
After reviewing, go to your Square Dashboard > Invoices and send a manual invoice.

This is great if your products/services are custom-priced or if you want to approve orders before payment.

2. How to set this up in Square Online (step-by-step):

Add a Custom Form

In your Square Online Editor, click “+ Add Section”
Choose “Form”, then pick “Custom Form”
Edit the form fields to collect:

Name
Email
Phone (optional)
Details of request or order
Anything else you need

Set Up Notification

Make sure form submissions are emailed to you (in the form settings).
You’ll get notified instantly and can respond quickly.

Send an Invoice

In your Square Dashboard, go to Invoices > Create Invoice
Fill out the invoice with what the customer requested.
Send via email or text—your customer pays securely online.

You can redirect them to a thank-you page after the form is submitted with info like “Thanks! We’ll review and send an invoice soon.”
If you offer multiple custom options, you can use a dropdown menu or checkboxes to organize the form better.

Thank you, I appreciate the help.

I don’t think the forms on Square allow the customer to submit pictures and I need that. So I created another form that I can embed. I just wanted to make sure it didn’t send them straight to the checkout page afterwards. I guess I’ll have to publish the website and then test it out.

What about making a Thank You page that the customer receives after they submit the form and have your email address on it for them to email you their photos?
