Arranging Square Online Items Alphabetically

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Why can't items be displayed alphabetically by default?!?

Really frustrated that items in each category are displayed in the order added, and there is no way to reorder them except dragging each one to the correct position. When a category has, say, 60 items, dragging each one around the list is VERY time consuming. This should be a simple, one-click option, preferably a selectable default.

Hi @basilandbees, welcome to the Square Community. Thank you for your post!

You actually are able to organize items alphabetically. Here are a few simple steps:

Log in to your Square Dashboard > then go to your Square Online Dashboard.
From here, click "Website" and a dropdown menu should appear, then click "Edit Site."
Now click "Home" at the top of your menu which will open a new menu. Click "Shop All" under Category Pages. Followed by "Item List" in the new menu. (Refer to red highlighted sections in the images below.)

Once on the Items List page, select "Arrange items."
This will take you take your Arrangement page where you will have a variety of arrangement types, including Alphabetical.

Once your arrangement type is selected and you are satisfied with the way your site looks, simply click "Publish" in the right hand corner on the page.

Hi

I don't see "Arrange Items/Arrangement" within "Items List". I only have "View Items" which takes me to the Dashboard to manage items. Items in the Dashboard Library are listed alphabetically.

Really frustrated that I cannot list items within a category alphabetically.

I hope this can be easily resolved.

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with this!

Would you be able to provide a screenshot of what you are seeing on your side?

I tried this to get my items to arrange by newest first. So I went through all the steps outlined above, but the site is NOT organizing by newest added. (I can't actually figure out what the organizing approach now is...) Help!

Could you please clarify how the site is organizing your items instead? Do you also have a link to your site that shows what is occurring?

According to a support agent I just spoke with, the " Arrange Items" option has apparently been removed. This seems nonsensical as I imagine it's a simple tool for Square to implement and it greatly increases user experience. Dragging items into the order we want is extremely tedious when we have upwards of 100 items in a category. I know myself and others would really appreciate this option as it would save us a ton of time on the backend and make it easier for our customers to browse our products.

It's also extraordinarily frustrating that when organizing items under a category (by laboriously dragging them into position), I can't exclude items with 0 inventory. Since I make one-of-a-kind items, it makes an already cumbersome process really painful as I can't tell from the items in the list which ones won't show anyway because they have 0 inventory. How about giving us the option of excluding items with no inventory when moving things around in the category?
