Feature Request Highlight: Bulk and Quantity Discounts

I’m back with another highlighted Square Online feature request! See the bottom of this post for links to requests I’ve spotlighted previously. Every other week, I’m going to highlight a feature request from the Square Online feature request board. Feature requests are one of the best ways to let us know what you’d like to see us add or change with Square Online.

This week we’re taking a look at a post by @bafranco1. They would like to see us add bulk or quantity-based discounts for Square Online.

Quantity-based discounts are a common tactic that a business can use to entice customers to purchase more of an item at a time to save money.

There are a lot of different types of discounts you can do that follow this type of approach. For example, @Barcha gives a free bottle of wine (😮) if you spend $40, and $10 off if you spend $50. That’s a big incentive for a customer to spend at least $40, and spending just a little more will get them even more.

Seller @KrakenCove sells plants at $3 each or $4 for $10. Getting an additional plant for essentially $1 is a really great deal for customers. 🪴🪴🪴(🪴)

While some sellers have used workarounds like creating bulk purchase items to sell items in groups at reduced rates, seller @Americancigar rightfully points out that this can cause inventory issues if you are tracking inventory.

This would be truly helpful as I have to updated inventory manually for items sold this way online where the POS handles it all for me.
