Shipping Weights not adding up

I'm having issues with the shipping weights not adding up correctly causing me to spend more money on shipping vs. what the customer paid. Am I entering the wight in ounces wrong? When entering in weights under the individual items it only gives you the Pounds option, not in ounces.

This should be 88 ounces or 5.5 pounds. The customer was charged 1.1 pounds. I'm paying for the real time shipping option ($70+ per month) on my website.

There isn't an ounce option when you setup your items, so you would need to convert the weight to pounds first. (I like to use the Google search tool)

Based on your screenshot, your items are currently set to .11 pounds which would be equal to 1.76 ounces. The entire cart totals 17.6 ounces or 1.1 pounds.

If the cart total for the screenshot is actually 88 ounces or 5.5 pounds, you would need to edit the weight of the items to .55 pounds. Does that sound like a more accurate weight for your products?

I also noticed that this particular customer was charged free shipping because their cart total was over $100. Do you have a different order number where a customer paid a specific amount for shipping, but you needed to pay more? I'm happy to take another look with you. 😊

Sounds like because the website doesn't offer the OZ option, I need to change the weight on over 1,200 items on my site........................................ very disappointing based off the amount of money I pay square for this website. So by using the google site to convert it, the square site will now charge the correct amount when adding the total?

What if something weights 2 pounds and 5 ounces? Can I use 2.5 for the weight option and that will add correctly or that needs to be convert as well?

2.5 is pretty close, but I think it would technically be 2.31 lbs if you need to have the exact weight entered. 5 ounces = 0.3125 lbs, so 2 lbs + 0.31 lbs = 2.31

I know there are some stores that bump up the weight of their items slightly to account for packaging weight, but I don't know if that is something you want to consider.

To update the item weights, navigate to the Square Online dashboard and select Items > Site Items. While you cannot bulk edit everything at once, there's a couple tips that might help.

1. Use the filter option to narrow down the search results to specific criteria; location, category, items on sale, items set to shipping fulfillment, etc. You will still have to click on each item to enter the Edit Item screen, but this might help you prioritize the order in which you update the items.

2. You can bulk edit variation weights for a single item. Click on the item to access the Edit Item page, check the boxes next to the variations, then edit one of the weight fields. All weight fields will update at once for the checked boxes.

I hope this helps you out, and I'll be sure to forward this as feedback to the Ecom team. I'm sure there's many stores that would benefit from being able to add ounces instead of being limited to just pounds.
