notify customers of new events added?

Is there a way to automatically email or text people when a new event has been added to the site? I teach painting classes and would like to notify my returning customers before making the classes available on social media.

$15 per month to send emails is pretty outrageous.

I'll continue to do it manually. Thanks for trying to help though.
